Fleece-Lined Sheer Tights: How to Keep the Bare-Leg Look When It Gets Cold

The Fleece-Lined Sheer Tights in black, worn with a black mini skirt, front view

Cold weather usually means a choice between sheer tights that look bare and thick opaque tights that feel like a layer. Fleece-lined sheer tights are built to skip that choice: sheer on the outside, fleece on the inside.

What fleece-lined sheer tights are

The Fleece-Lined Sheer Tights have a fine sheer knit on the outside and brushed fleece on the inside, the whole way down the leg. They are knitted as one layer rather than two pieces sewn together, so there is no side seam, no back seam and nothing to line up at the ankle. The waistband is flat and wide, with no drawstring, and the toe is closed.

How they still look sheer

The fleece is on the inside. On the outside, the black reads as a fine haze over the leg with a fine vertical rib, and skin tone shows through it. You get the look of sheer tights rather than a flat, opaque black.

Black or Nude

They come in two colors.

  • Black gives a sheer black leg, the classic look with a black skirt or dress.
  • Nude sits closer to skin. Choose it if you want the leg to look as close to bare as possible. How bare it reads depends on your own skin tone, so compare the product photos with your skin before you choose.

What to wear them with

A pencil skirt. The Matte Leather Pencil Skirt has a wide waistband that sits above the navel and a pencil line from waist to hem. The flat waistband of the tights sits underneath without a ridge, and the sheer leg below keeps the outfit light.

A long-sleeve mini dress. Long sleeves and sheer legs work together on cold days. The Open-Back Mini Dress has a crew neck, long fitted sleeves and a short hem. The Ruched Wrap Mini Dress has a crossover V, long sleeves and ruching down both sides to a hem high on the thigh.

Keep the colors simple. Black tights with a black skirt or dress keep one long line from waist to shoe. Nude tights let the dress do the talking.

Shoes

The toe is closed, so wear them with closed shoes: pointed ankle boots, knee boots, loafers or closed pumps. Open-toe sandals show the closed toe.

Fit

They come in one size, knitted to stretch rather than cut to a size chart. The maker's guide is on the product page. If you are unsure, email us your height and usual size and we will tell you how they will sit.
